Mi Shell Obrahma

Mi Shell Obrahma, originally uploaded by hep.

This is the last chick. It is a brahma chick, so we named it Mi Shell Obrahma (tentatively also named Bwrack Obrahma should it turn out to be a rooster but based on its tiny chick personality i am 99.9% sure it is a hen.) it is by far the most sweet and docile of the chicks, but also screams the most shrilly if you remove it from sight of its fellow inmates. This chick belongs to Zoe. Brahmas are funny because they have a trail of feathers that runs all the way down their legs which makes them look as if they are wearing feather chaps. Once the chicks pinfeathers and real plummage comes in these featherchaps also grow in and become even more elaborate.

OMG... you have CHIKKINPANTS chickens! You have no idea how loudly I squealed when I read that. It didn't occur to me in all this reading about how you have Brahmas that omg... chikkinpants!
i know rite? basically the main reason i got chickens is there is high turnover and it will teach the kids not to get so omg emotional when something dies (useful skill in life if everyone around you dies all the time like in our family) and secondly so i could have a flock of hilarious semi-exotic chickens. i also have a david bowie chicken:

that is huevo. she is such a bitch too. she is a polish (a white-crested black polish to be specific) and they have this weird ornamental spray of feathers over their heads. they are SUPER cute as chicks too, they have a pompom hat!
hehe thx you! i love yours too! i like the habit of naming ours after chicken based foods (for the most part) because it reminds the children of what the chickens jobs are. job animals vs pets!
Most of mine are named after old ladies. LOL I'm going to have to do a photo post with their names :)

My 3 black Australorps have no names because they are all 3 identical. I can't tell them apart. I told Jeff they are like the 3 witches from greek mythology, the oracle.... Or maybe the sirens, or the muses. lol
